I can't believe it has already been a year! I remember when I heard the news I was in shock! All I could do was think about Randi and what she was going through! You are missed and will never be forgotten. You are a true American hero! Thank you

Allison Burguess | SGT/ Team Leader of CPL Gary L. Moore JAN 08-09 | December 20, 2009 |
I was deployed with Gary Lee Moore, he was my first Driver assigned as a team leader to the 978th Military Police Company, I trained with Gary before our deployment, SPC Crawford was our gunner then. Gary remained on my PSD team upto my mid-tour leave. I couldn't have ever been more proud of his work ethic. Every piece he always knew had a place and a meaning for being where they were. I remember when he flipped out on our plt mechanic for taking apart a piece of our vehicle to replace a part and getting upset over a missing screw. We changed our brakes and callipers, and bumper extensions together, they thought I'd never gotten so black beneath a vehicle from the under carriage. These are some of the more fond memories I have of him. When he'd get frustrated he'd voice himself. Gary used to call his almamater his "dingle dangle" song that was as old as the turn of time. He'd always have food around as lanky as he was. when in passing he'd say good morning SGT. and have the brightest smile on his face. Sometimes I can remember him talking to Randi while preparing for work some days on the computer's web cam, saying hi, and having to pull him away to go back to work, when we had precious moments to talk.
Things overall change people, my mission changed and I got another team, for a different operation, helping them (PLT) out overall. after the GOV. of Iraq Provincial Elections, i went back to a team on the road but no longer part of his. I saw him on a day to day basis. Just the night before his passing we got est. 4 new soldiers to our plt. A larger group, no other squad was based out for mission the following day but on stand-by. The Morning of Gary's Passing I had just gotten back from a run. I hadn't gotten changed or showered to get to work. I had gotten into my room and turned my hand held radio on, I heard my RTO calling for someone, anyone, I was the only one whom answered. As I read messages of this Violent Attack come across a screen, I had hard words to Swallow and information to pass and prayed for all of our guys out there, that all of them would make it. Well this is just the beginning of my day. I had to prepare myself for the worst, I gone to my room and changed in the speed of lightning, to go support our soldiers out in the field and at the hospital. Upon Learning Information of Gary's Passing we still had to go back to our FOB and never forgetting what a brave soldier like him stood for. When we got back the chaplain was awaiting all of the soldiers to console them.
In the days following the attack his family was notified, we talked in a large group to help cope, Subsequently our lives changed. There was a more profound respect for life and what it meant to live. Gary had his faith when he went to be with GOD, I know he was at peace rather than in Pain. The hurt of a lost soldier from such a volatile attack, of an insurgent that showed his cowardly face and ran; the loss friend was by far the worst in my life.
Gary was dedicated in life to his family, friends and Fiancee: Randi Ivie. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the Moore Family, I know this bit of information are bits of my memory: It saddens and fills my eyes with tears everytime to speak of such things because Moore lives on through us whom carry memories of him. He is never forgotten. We will all meet again one day. It was good to meet your entire family at the DAACG upon our arrival and approach into BIGGS. Thank You for all of your continued support. Love Allison

My deepest condolences! I know what is like to lose a loved one during war, to include closest friends. When I came back, I had to make true on some promises I made to my fellow brothers. To do this, I had to make a visit to their families and give support.
I and many others feel your pain! I pray for peace and happiness for Cpl Moore and may God bless you and your family!
